Qatar Museums (QM) is taking part in International Museum Day on 17-18 May 2024. This is a global event that celebrates museums and how they help people understand different cultures.

For these two days, QM is allowing free entry to all its museums and exhibitions. This includes the National Museum of Qatar, the Museum of Islamic Art, Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art, 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum, and others, as well as all temporary exhibitions.

Both residents and visitors to Qatar can explore QM's world-famous museums at no cost during this time.

International Museum Day

International Museum Day happens every year on or around 18 May. It is organized by the International Council of Museums.

This year's theme is "Museums for Education and Research." It aims to highlight how important museums are for education, research, and promoting learning and cultural understanding.

Along with free entry, Qatar Museums is inviting the public to two special events:

1. At 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum, there will be an event called "International Museum Day: The Power of Museums in Building a Sustainable Future." It will have live performances, panel discussions, workshops, museum tours, and more. This event is on 16 May from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM.
2. At the Museum of Islamic Art, there will be an "Islamic Pattern" workshop led by artist Adam Williamson. Participants will build 3D structures inspired by Islamic art and patterns. This workshop is for all ages and will be held on 22 May from 4 PM to 7 PM. Registration is required.

Qatar Museums welcomes everyone to explore its museums and cultural offerings all year round as entry is free for Qatari nationals and residents with a valid QID.
