Doha, Qatar, 18 September 2024: Exquisite art and culinary excellence combine in mouthwatering fashion as Four Seasons at The Pearl-Qatar announces its new Afternoon Tea, “A Canvas of Flavours,” at Duchess from 18th September to 31st October. This captivating experience, inspired by the engaging artworks of renowned Qatari artist Hanadi Al Darwish, will be set against the elegant backdrop of the tea lounge where Al Darwish’s art pieces are prominently displayed. Priced at QAR285 for two people, this is the perfect place for art enthusiasts and gastronomes alike to enjoy an unrivalled dining experience.
Hanadi Al Darwish is a Qatari visual artist with a Bachelor's degree in Art Education from Qatar University. She has held various prestigious positions, including Director of the Visual Arts Center at the Ministry of Culture in Qatar, Vice President of the Qatari Society for Fine Arts, Chairman of the Board of Directors at the Girl’s Creativity Center, and Vice President of the Qatari Society for Fine Arts. Her work has been featured in numerous local and international exhibitions, and she has served on several art juries both in Qatar and abroad.
She has organized many forums for the Ministry of Culture, Arts, and Heritage inside and outside Qatar, and represented Qatar in international events, and was even chosen as the Guest of Honor at the 9th International Arts Forum in Serbia, 2016. Her contributions to art extend beyond exhibitions as she has played a vital role in the design and artistic production of school textbooks, while she also founded Hessa Art House in 2019.
Hanadi Al Darwish’s works are deeply rooted in the poetic nature of memory, with her artistic world woven from the threads of an ancient past. Through her technique of layering and accumulation, she evokes a sense of the possible disappearance of all things beautiful. Layers of fabric emerge within the frame, and the movement of the brush across the fabric collages creates a game of concealment, inviting the viewer to engage in the act of discovery. She remains in a continuous state of passion, always seeking to explore and enrich her artistic experience.
Hanadi Al Darwish’s artworks, which reflect her deep connection to Qatari culture and artistic heritage, serve as the muse for this unique culinary offering. Guests can indulge in a selection of finely crafted teas and delectable treats that echo the colours and intricate designs of Al Darwish’s creations. This fusion of art and gastronomy provides a multisensory experience that celebrates the rich cultural tapestry of Qatar.
Duchess offers a sophisticated yet unpretentious atmosphere, resembling the intimate charm of a private living room. With its comfortable sofas, armchairs, and picturesque sea views, the venue is designed for enjoying morning coffee, afternoon tea, evening mocktails, or sweet treats. Adorned with some breathtaking artwork and serving up an array of mouthwatering bites, it is an ideal spot to catch up with friends or to find some midday solace.
