His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, the Amir of Qatar, is embarking on an official visit to Bangladesh, Nepal, and the Philippines, in a move aimed at bolstering Qatar's relations with key Asian nations.

The visit, according to Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim, Speaker of the Shura Council, marks a significant milestone in developing Qatar's partnerships with countries across the Asian continent. Al Ghanim commended the Amir's unwavering commitment to fostering cooperation between Qatar and nations worldwide.

In an exclusive statement to the Qatar News Agency (QNA), Al Ghanim emphasized that the visit would fortify the bonds of friendship, coordination, and shared interests with these three countries across various sectors. He underscored the potential for enhanced parliamentary relations, bringing the Qatari people closer to the peoples of these friendly nations, in line with Qatar's burgeoning ties with Asia.

Qatar's strategic geographical location, coupled with its growing economic prowess, has positioned the nation as an attractive partner for Asian countries, Al Ghanim noted. This, combined with Qatar's influential regional and international political role, has facilitated the establishment of robust bilateral relations with nations across Asia.

The Speaker highlighted Qatar's support for the key objectives of the Asian Cooperation Dialogue Initiative, including strengthening intra-regional relations, coordinating political stances, consolidating cooperation across various domains, and achieving common interests.

Al Ghanim stressed the Shura Council's commitment to reinforcing and developing parliamentary relations with Asian counterparts, citing the Council's prominent presence within the Asian Parliamentary Assembly. The parliamentary friendship groups, he added, play a crucial role in solidifying and fortifying ties through bilateral meetings and mutual visits.

Delving into the deep-rooted historical connections between the Gulf region and Asia, Al Ghanim pointed to the rich cultural heritage and commercial ties that have long existed between Qatar and Asian nations, predating the oil era. This shared history, he said, has significantly impacted the region's culture and social fabric, further cementing relations.

Looking ahead, Al Ghanim emphasized the Shura Council's dedication to supporting, strengthening, and advancing these historic relations across various domains. He underscored the Council's active role in diplomacy, parliamentary relations, and fostering cultural and social openness, aligning with Qatar's regional and global aspirations.

Concluding his statement, Al Ghanim reiterated Qatar's commitment, under the wise leadership of the Amir, to enhancing regional cooperation, achieving sustainable development, pursuing balanced and credible policies, promoting good neighborliness, and resolving disputes through dialogue and mediation efforts. This approach, he noted, has garnered Qatar immense respect and admiration on both regional and global stages.

The upcoming visit by His Highness the Amir is poised to usher in a new era of cooperation between Qatar and these three Asian nations, further solidifying Qatar's position as a trusted partner and a force for positive change in the region and beyond.
