Qatar Foundation’s Rasekh Initiative Collaborates with National Cyber Security Agency

Localizing curricula in Qatar's educational system and enhancing local knowledge across the educational science system remain key focus areas

Doha, Qatar, 26 May 2024: Qatar Foundation has made a significant leap in its “Rasekh” initiative through a strategic collaboration with the National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA) in Qatar.

Supporting the initiative’s goals of effectively localizing curricula and enriching local knowledge, the collaboration will provide Qatar Foundation’s (QF) Pre-University Education (PUE) with valuable scientific information for its database.

The development of interactive digital resources for cyber security curricula that reflect the local context of Qatar will assist in enhancing students' understanding and motivation, and educational materials will also be used in schools across the nation to support students, researchers, learners, and parents.

Maryam Al-Hajri, Partnerships Manager at the “Rasekh” initiative, said: "We are extremely proud and excited about our collaboration with the National Cyber Security Agency, which represents a significant milestone in our journey towards enriching our educational ecosystem.”

Noting that cyber security plays a vital role in protecting sensitive information and systems from digital threats, Al-Hajri continued: "By integrating cyber security concepts into educational curricula, we aim to raise students' awareness about the importance of protecting data and digital systems. This goes beyond technical aspects to include teaching students critical thinking and strategic analysis to face increasing cyber challenges.”

The collaboration with the NCSA will enable the development of interactive educational materials focused on protecting information and digital infrastructure, says Al-Hajri, adding: “These materials will prepare students to understand cyber risks and effectively counter them, enhancing their capabilities and providing them with the necessary skills to meet the needs of the rapidly evolving job market in this field."

Noting that adding these components to the curricula will make education more distinctive and comprehensive, she said: “This will offer students the opportunity to explore new and important fields that contribute to building a promising professional future. We believe this collaboration will help prepare a conscious generation capable of facing future challenges and actively participating in building a safe and sustainable society."

Launched in 2022 by QF in partnership with Qatar’s Ministry of Education and Higher Education, the “Rasekh” initiative aims to enhance the connection of researchers and learners with their local environment and to establish a local knowledge bank that consolidates all sciences and knowledge present within Qatar, through its institutions and individuals.
