In the emotional 10-minute video, the iconic striker reflected on his decision to call time on his international career after the crucial World Cup qualifier against Kuwait at Kolkata's Salt Lake Stadium. Looking ahead to his final game in national colors, Chhetri expressed that he does not feel burdened by pressure but is instead cherishing every remaining moment with the national squad.
As Indian football fans brace for the end of an era, Chhetri's legacy as the most prolific goalscorer and one of the greatest players the country has ever produced is firmly etched in history.

His leadership on the pitch led India to victory in the 2008 AFC Challenge Cup, and under his captaincy, India qualified for their first AFC Asian Cup in 27 years.
Chhetri’s contributions to Indian football have been recognized with prestigious awards such as the Arjuna Award in 2011, the Padma Shri in 2019, and the Khel Ratna Award in 2021, making him the first footballer to receive this highest sporting honor in India1. His international career has been nothing short of phenomenal, with Chhetri becoming the most-capped player and the all-time top goalscorer for the Indian national team. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest Indian footballers of all time.
