52nd edition of the Amir Cup 2024 continues.

The draw for the Round of 16 of the 52nd edition of the prestigious Amir Cup 2024 was held. This draw, a crucial step in the journey to the cup, determined the fate of the participating teams. The matches of the Round of 16 are scheduled to be held from May 6 to May 9, 2024.
Al Arabi, the defending champions and eight-time title winners, were drawn against second-division side Al Sailiya.
One of the most anticipated fixtures in this Round is between Al Duhail and Al Shamal. The winner of this match will face the victor of the Al Arabi vs. Al Sailiya match in the quarter-finals. This sets the stage for a potential clash between the defending champions and a team that has proven its mettle in the second division.
Meanwhile, Al Wakrah, seeking their first Amir Cup title, will take on Muaither. Al Sadd, with 18 Amir Cup titles to their name, will face Al Markhiya. The winners of these matches will advance to meet each other in the Quarter-finals.
The structure of the tournament sees a path where the two finalists from the Quarter-finals will progress to the semi-finals and ultimately compete for a spot in the final match.
The second path of the Round of 16 features teams making their debut in the tournament. Al Waab, from the second division, will challenge Qatar SC, two-time Cup winners. Al Rayyan, six-time Amir Cup champions, will clash with Al Khor, the champions of the second division. The winners of these matches will meet in the Quarter-finals.
Umm Salal, previous winners of the Amir Cup, will face Al Bidda from the second division. Al Ahli will take on Al Gharafa. The winners of these matches will advance to the Quarter-finals, where one team will secure a spot in the final match.
The teams confirmed for the Round of 16 are as follows:
- Al Waab vs. Qatar SC
- Al Khor vs. Al Rayyan
- Al Bidda vs. Umm Salal
- Al Ahli vs. Al Gharafa
- Al Shamal vs. Al Duhail
- Al Sailiya vs. Al Arabi
- Muaither vs. Al Wakrah
- Al Markhiya vs. Al Sadd
